Welcome Rev John Wells

Welcome Rev John Wells

Dear Friends and Members of St. Margaret’s Parish,

I want to thank you for your most warm welcome as I settle into the Manse and the post of being your parish minister.  I come to fill the vacant at St. Margaret’s having been almost fifteen years minister at Roslin, Bilston and Glencorse; a triple linkage in the Presbytery of Lothian.  That said I am no stranger to the Presbytery of Edinburgh having served at Mayfield Salisbury Parish as their Associate and Young Persons minister for some time and prior to that I was parish minister at Morningside Braid for twelve years.

My student years were spent at St.Andrews, Durham and Edinburgh Universities picking up qualifications permitting me to teach as well as practice as a Church of Scotland minister.  Apart from my professional interests, I am an eclectic reader of books, an enthusiastic cook and baker; maker of jams and marmalade and if my reputation goes before me, a dab hand at making tasty scones and the odd vat of soup.

I look forward to being your minister and to meeting you in the coming months and the year ahead.
